Grateful Layout

I am finally getting back into some regular scrapbooking and cardmaking since my shoulder surgery. I completed this layout during the 1st Scrapbook with me I held after the surgery. It took a bit of time to get to blog it as working on the computer has not been as easy. I had fun creating this layout from last Thanksgiving during this event.

The inspiration for this layout came from this sketch from Citrus Twist. You can see this sketch along with others here.

I converted the sketch to 8 1/2" x 11" to work with the size I use for my albums. I changed the photo size to work with the new layout size. The paper came from my stash and I added some enamel dot embellishments from Close To My Heart on the layout. The title was cut from a pocket scrapbooking card from my stash as well.

Thanksgiving 2018 Layout

As anyone who knows me knows - I love FALL!! There is just something about this season that is so special to me. I especially love the colors of the season, all of the beautiful colors of the changing leaves. Even with the weather being quite hot lately I had a lot of fun creating this layout from Thanksgiving of 2018 during a recent Scrapbook with me event.

I dug into the scraps I had remaining from the Bloom with Grace collection from Close to My Heart to complete this. I added some miscellaneous buttons and ribbon from my stash as well.

The inspiration for this sketch came from this Page Maps sketch that was featured in a Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine edition. You can see this sketch along with others here.

The title was stamped in Espresso Exclusive Inks on some retired Goldrush cardstock. I added small bits of ribbon that were held in place using staples and added some buttons from my stash using Glue Dots.

I would love to have you join me for my Scrapbook with me events. If you are interested, make sure to Like and Follow my Facebook page to get notifications for any upcoming events.

I hope you liked the layout. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanksgiving 2020 Layout

Created this layout yesterday during one of my Scrapbook with me events. It is very rare for me to scrapbook an event right after it takes place so this was fun to do. I dug into my remaining stash of the Bloom With Grace collection in creating this - I think I have finally used up this collection with this.

The inspiration for this layout came from this sketch. You can see this sketch along with others here.

The title block, phrase and hearts are from the sticker sheet with the collection. The punched circles and the flower were cut from some Picture My Life cards I had leftover from the collection.

If you are interested in joining me for one of my Scrapbook with me events, make sure to follow me on Facebook to get notifications of upcoming events.

I hope you like the layout. Thanks for stopping by!

Explosion Treat Box

I created these fun treat boxes for my family and my coworkers for Thanksgiving. I wanted to share the instructions here with you since this Explosion Box can be used at any time of year or occasion. I filled these with bags of candy but this box would be perfect for gift giving as well.

I am sharing pictures of the box here. You can also find a link to the printable instructions as well as a video tutorial at the end of this post.

I added a Belly Band to the box as a way of "wrapping it up" for presenting it as a gift.

Here is what the box looks like when you slide the belly band off and take the lid off. So many possibilities with this box design!

The materials needed for this box are simple: 2 pieces of cardstock plus 1 piece of patterned paper.

The cardstock for the base is cut to 11 1/4" x 11 1/4" and then scored at 3 3/4" and 7 1/2" along both the horizontal and vertical sides.

After scoring you need to cut away about 1/2" from each corner to the score lines. Cutting this away will aid in folding the corners in to create the box.

Fold this along the score lines and then fold each corner from the bottom of the box base out to the corner. You can decorate the sides with pieces of 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" patterned paper.

The cardstock for the lid is cut to 6" x 6" and then scored at 1" and 5" on both the horizontal and vertical sides.

Cut along the score lines on both horizontal sides to create tabs. Put some strong adhesive on the outside of the tabs and then fold under to create the box lid.

The belly band is made from 2 pieces of 2 1/2" wide patterned paper. One piece is left at 12" long and the other is cut down to 5 1/2" long.

Score the 12" long piece at 1 1/2", 5 3/8" and 9 1/4".  Score the 5 1/2" piece at 1 5/8". The best way to assemble the belly band is by putting it around the box as you do since you do not want the band to be too tight or too loose. I used strong adhesive on one end of each piece and once I had everything lined up I adhered the ends together.

I decorated the band at the top of the box with some Cricut cut leaves and a tag and added some ribbon and twine as well.

You can find the printable instructions here.

Here is a video tutorial I did during a recent Facebook Live.

I hope you like this Explosion Box and enjoyed the video tutorial. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanksgiving Cards and a card workshop

I just completed making my Thanksgiving cards for this year and had so much fun creating these I knew I wanted to share the results with you. I had started making these on National Card Making Day during my Zoom event using a 14 Card One-Sheet-Wonder technique I found on Pinterest. I cut the pattern pieces and started working on the card pieces during that event.

I knew when I started making these they would be Thanksgiving cards using more of the Bloom with Grace paper and embellished with stamped images from the With A Grateful Heart stamp set. I am so pleased with how these came out.

I adapted the cutting guide I found on Pinterest to create the following guide for the piece of 12" x 12" Bloom with Grace patterned paper I started with.

Once I had the patterned pieces cut I worked with Espresso, Fern and French Vanilla cardstock to mat the pieces and create each of the cards.

I used the Woodgrain Embossing folder on a few of the card pieces as well as Espresso Ink and a waterbrush to create a splatter effect on some.

The embellishments were done with stamped images from the With A Grateful Heart Stamp Set + Thin Cuts as well as Cricut cuts from the Close To my Heart Complete Creativity Cricut collection.

If you are interested in making these for yourself you can purchase the full directions to this workshop at the end of this post following the Buy Now button to my shop.
