Easter Cards and a One Sheet Wonder Workshop

I have been having so much fun creating with the paper from the upcoming March/April Close To My Heart Catalog. The first collection from this that I am working with is the Daisy Meadows collection. I love the soft colors in the papers along with the adorable Easter and Spring images. I am excited to share with you the first of the workshops I have created with this - a One Sheet Wonder Card Workshop.

With this workshop you will make 12 Easter cards - 3 each of 4 card designs. The cards use the Daisy Meadows paper and coordinating cardstock from the March/April 2021 Close To My Heart catalog that goes live on March 1st. I added these adorable Easter bunnies from the Daisy Meadows Cardmaking Stamp Set + Thin Cuts. I found inspiration for the card designs on Pinterest to create the following cutting guide:

I used cardstock from the coordinating cardstock pack for the mats for various elements as well as the White Daisy for the die cut and stamped images. I embellished the cards using enamel dots from the Daisy Meadows Dots pack. I have included the link to an assembly process video I did for these cards at the end of this post.

Here is the link to the Assembly Process Video to give you some tips for putting these adorable cards together.

Sweet Safari One Sheet Wonder Card Workshop

As soon as I saw the Sweet Safari collection from Close To My Heart I knew I wanted to create a One Sheet Wonder Card Workshop with it. I don't do a lot of baby cards so I decided to do this one as a set of birthday cards. I love how these came out and think they are perfect for celebrating some of those early birthdays.

The cards use the Sweet Safari paper and coordinating cardstock from the January/February 2021 Close To My Heart catalog. I added these adorable gnomes from the Gnome for Christmas Stamp Set + Thin Cuts. I found inspiration for the card designs on Pinterest to create the following cutting guide:

I used cardstock from the coordinating cardstock pack for the base color on each card as well as the circle elements. In addition I used White Daisy cardstock for the brackets and stamped elements.

The sentiments and embellishments were die cut and stamped using the Wishing You Everything Stamp Set + Thin Cuts. This is such a versatile set that can be used for so many different ocassions.

If you are interested in making these for yourself there are 4 ways you can get the cutting guide and the card guide:

January 2021 Recap Layout

I am still having so much fun working with the Happiness Lives Here collection from Close To My Heart. I bashed my stash with this layout during today's Scrapbook with me session. I combined papers from this collection along with some from the January/February Mix-Ins paper pack. Love how these coordinate so well.

The inspiration for this layout came from this sketch from the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog. You can find this sketch along with others here.

I varied my version of the sketch by adding strips of patterned paper behind each column of 3x4 photos and dovetailed the ends of each. The title was cut using the Simple Serif Thin Cuts sets.

I added some stamped flowers and leaves from the Stitched Florals Stamp Set + Thin Cuts.

If you are interested in joining me for one of my Scrapbook with me events, make sure to like and follow my Facebook Page to get notifications of upcoming events.

I hope you like this layout. Thanks for stopping by!

Tips & Tricks Tuesday #8 - Valentine's Shaker Treat Box

As promised, I am sharing the Valentine's Shaker Treat Box I worked on creating last weekend here with you. I had a lot of fun designing this treat box with a fun, shaker window element using the Perfect Match Collection from Close To My Heart. I am looking forward to filling each box with Valentine's treats for my family and co-workers.

I played around a bit with the dimension for the box until I got it to what I wanted. Each box measures 4" square for the base and is 2" in height. I am happy to share the instructions for you here. You can download a PDF of the instructions as well as watch a process video at the end of this post.

To create the box you will need - 1 piece of 12"x12" cardstock, 1 piece of 6"x6" patterned paper, 2 pieces of 4"x4" acetate (window sheets), sequins or other small elements for shaker, strong adhesive, 3-D foam adhesive, a scoring platform and a heart (or other shaped) die to cut out the window.

Cut the 12"x12" piece of cardstock into 1 8"x8" piece and 2 4"x4" pieces.

Score the 8"x8" piece of cardstock on all sides at 2". Fold along score lines.

Score the 6"x6" piece of patterned paper on all sides at 15/16". Fold along score lines.

Cut along score lines on 2 sides of each piece to form tabs.

For extra stability adhere one 4"x4" piece of cardstock to inside bottom of box base.

Place adhesive on outside of tabs and fold in to form box base.

Stack 2nd 4"x4" piece of cardstock on center of box lid patterned paper and using a die cut or other method, cut out window element.

Adhere 1 piece of 4"x4" acetate to underside of box lid, covering opening.

Outline opening with thin 3-D foam tape. Make sure to leave cover over tape.

Using an anti-static pouch (or dryer sheet). Wipe over window and then sprinkle in sequins or other shapes. Remove cover from foam tape and adhere 2nd piece of acetate to finish window.

Adhere 2nd piece of 4"x4" cardstock over window on the inside to hide the acetate and foam tape.

Add adhesive to tabs on outside of box lid, fold under and adhere to create lid.

Add some cardstock or other patterned paper to edge of box lid to finish it.

I finished my box with some ribbon tied around the box and a cute tag cut and stamped with images from the Months of the Year February Stamp set from Close To My Heart.

You can download a PDF with the step-by-step instructions here.

You can see the step-by-step assembly of this treat box in the following video.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine's Card and a Sketch Challenge

Spent a snowy day here doing some Valentine's Day crafting. I worked on some cards that I will share with you today as well as treat boxes that I will be sharing in an upcoming post. I used papers from the current Perfect Match special from Close To My Heart along with stamps from the February Stamp of the Month - Doodled Borders and the Months of the Year February sets.

The inspiration for the card came from the current card sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.

You can see this sketch along with others here.

To make this card, I cut a 3 1/2" circle from some scrap cardstock and traced around it on my card base using a pencil. I adhered a 3" circle cut from the Perfect Match paper inside the circle. I then used the dotted border stamp from the Stamp of the Month to stamp the border along the pencil line in Candy Apple Exclusive Inks.

A tip for shaping a line stamp into a circle or other shape is to place the shape guide against your stamp block and then align the stamp along the edge of the shape guide. I did this with the dotted border stamp and used the circle I traced as a guide. I then stamped the border and erased the pencil line when the ink was dry.

I die cut some hearts and then adhered them along the dotted circle line. I added 3-D Foam Tape to some to add dimension.

I hope you liked the card. Thanks for stopping by!
