Czech Resistance During WWII

The next excursion we went on during our time in Prague was Czech Resistance During WWII. We visited several locations in Prague were significant events during WWII took place. It was great to learn more of the history of this beautiful city.

The inspiration started from a Pinterest sketch and then I changed it up to work with the photos I was using. The title and hexagons were cut on my Cricut. I added some faux-stitching on a few of the hexagons for visual interest.

Prague Castle Layout

The last stop during our Panoramic Prague excursion is at Prague Castle. This UNSESCO world heritage site was most likely built in 880AD. It holds a Guinness Book of World Records title for being the largest castle in the world. We got to see the changing of the guards and look out over Prague - beautiful views! We also wandered around the area and got to see St. Vitus Cathedral.

The inspiration for this layout came from this sketch I found on Pinterest.

I followed the sketch closely but added a large mat background for visual interest. The title was cut on my Cricut using the font I have chosen for the layouts in this album.

World Clock Layout

One of the highlights during our Panoramic Prague Excursion was seeing the World Clock in Old Town Square. The clock is mounted on the southern wall of the city's Old Town Hall. The clock mechanism has three main components – the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details; statues of various Catholic saints stand on either side of the clock; "The Walk of the Apostles", an hourly show of moving Apostle figures and other sculptures, notably a figure of a skeleton that represents Death, striking the time; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months.

The inspiration for this layout came from this sketch I found on Pinterest.

I stayed close to the sketch for this layout. I did add a few extra banner strips to the left large banner for visual interest. I also used the circle element for my journal strips. I cut the title on my Cricut.

Charles Bridge Layout

During our Prague by Night Excursion we got to see a bit of the Charles Bridge - it was so beautiful all lit up! During out Panoramic Prague Excursion we got to see the bridge during the day and closeup. It was such a beautiful pedestrian bridge to walk over. It took us over the Vltava River. Lots of statues - too many to remember the names of. One statue we really liked was the one of John of Nepomuk.

The inspiration for this layout came from this sketch from Sketch N Scrap I found on Pinterest.

I kept pretty close to the sketch with this layout. I only added some strips for journaling and some banners for embellishments. I also added some faux-stitching using a black pen and ruler. The title was cut using my Cricut and in the same font I have been using for the layouts in this album.

In the Heart of the City Layout

We started our second day in Prague with the "Panoramic Prague" excursion. This took us from our hotel to the entrance to Old Town Prague at the Powder Tower. From there we wandered the streets of Old Town to the Old Town Square where we saw the Prague Astronomical Clock. After leaving Old Town Square we worked our way over to Charles Bridge. After the bridge we boarded a bus that took us to Prague Castle. The views from up at the castle were wonderful! After the castle we headed back to the hotel to get some food before our next excursion.

The inspiration for this layout came from this sketch from Even More Scrapping I found on Pinterest.

I love this sketch for having multiple photos and a great spot for journaling! The title was cut on my Cricut with the font I am using for this album. I substituted a wood heart shape with some paper glued to the opening in place of the word "heart" in the title. The remaining embellishments came from my stash.

Strahov Abbey Layout

I am trying to be very conscious of how I am scrapbooking our Danube trip in terms of what I scrapbook from each city we visited along with the excursions we took. I have decided to do a 2-page layout for each city and/or excursion and then select 1 or 2 key places from these to do a 1-page layout for. When we did the Prague by Night excursion I really enjoyed the stop at Strahov Abbey and the views from there. This stop was at the beginning of the excursion so it wasn't quite dark yet but we enjoyed the views along with a beer tasting there!

The inspiration for this layout came from this sketch from Even More Scrapping I found on Pinterest.

I kept to the sketch pretty closely with this layout. My only change was to add some faux-stitching around the edges of the base page using a white gel pen and ruler. The title was cut on my Cricut using the font I have chosen for this album. The enamel dots for embellishment came from my stash.

Getaway Layout

I finally started working on the layouts from the Cape Cod weekend Mike and I did in October. I am so glad to have some retired Seas the Day paper in my stash to use for the layouts from this weekend trip. The first layout is the title page for the getaway and, as I usually do, I pulled my favorite photo from the weekend for this.

The inspiration for this layout came from this sketch from Sketch Savvy. You can see this sketch along with others here.

I converted this sketch from 12" x 12" to 8 1/2" x 11" since I am working in this format for most of my projects now. I only used the right-hand part of the sketch for this layout since I wanted a 1-page layout as the result. I kept the photo size the same as the sketch since I wanted to make it stand out. The acrylic title, enamel dots, stickers and die cut pieces all came from the Seas the Day Scrapbook Workshop kit. I added a journal box using a die cut tag from the kit.
